Volleyball Sweeps Dowling For Sixth Consecutive Victory
UB Now 12-2 Overall And 9-1 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball cruised to its sixth straight win and victory number 10 in its last 11 matches with a straight set, 25-18, 25-15, 25-22, home East Coast Conference win over the visiting Dowling College Golden Lions. The Purple Knights are now 12-2 overall and 9-1 in the ECC. Dowling is now 14-11 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Sophomore Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led the UB offense with 12 kills, as she accumulated a .444 attack percentage on the night (12 k-0 e-27 ta).
Junior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) was outstanding in all facets of the game in Tuesday's win with 11 kills, a team-high 17 assists, seven digs and two block assists. Savic also smashed a .450 attack percentage (11 k-2 e-20 ta).
Classmate Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) notched another double-double with 10 kills and a team-best 10 digs.
Sophomore Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy) had nine digs and three service aces on the night, and senior Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) chipped in 16 assists for the winners.
The UB women's volleyball team will look to run its winning streak to seven on Thursday evening when they continue their three-match homestand with a non-conference contest versus American International College. Action is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Halloween night.
