C.W. Post Sweeps Volleyball, 3-0
Loss Snaps Five-Match Winning Streak For UB
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport volleyball team saw its five-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as the Purple Knights were swept in an East Coast Conference match by the host C.W. Post Pioneers, 13-25, 24-26, 26-28. Bridgeport, playing its fifth match since last Tuesday night, is now 17-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play. C.W. Post is now 15-14 overall and 6-6 in the ECC.
The Pioneers blitzed the Purple Knights in the first set coming out with a smoking .591 attack percentage in the opening stanza. In the next two sets, UB could not close things out, as they had set points in both frames. Bridgeport led 24-22 in the second before CWP won the set taking the final four points, and UB was up 26-25 in the third set but lost the final three points.
Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led Bridgeport with 17 kills and a .422 attack percentage.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 28 assists on the night, and junior Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada) led UB with 10 digs.
The Purple Knights will now be idle until next Tuesday evening, November 8th when they close out the 2011 regular season at Queens (N.Y.) College.
