UB Volleyball Runs Winning Streak To Five With Sweep Of UDC
Biljana Savic Slams 18 Kills To Lead All Players In The Match
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its fifth consecutive win on Sunday afternoon with a straight sets, 25-18, 25-23, 27-25, East Coast Conference win over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds. With the victory, UB is now 17-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play. UDC falls to 11-20 overall and 2-20 in the ECC.
Bridgeport freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led all players in the match with 18 kills, and she was joined in double figures by classmate Larissa Oliviera (Belo Horizonte, Brazil with 11 kills.
Junior Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada with nine and senior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) with eight were just shy of double-figure kills.
UB senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 42 assists on the day for the Purple Knights.
Vanessa Garlay led UDC with 13 kills.
Bridgeport will look to running its winning streak to six on Tuesday night at C.W. Post. Action gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
