Freshman Biljana Savic Helps Lead Volleyball To Home Sweep Over Molloy With 16 Kills And 18 Digs
Purple Knights Now 13-4 Overall And 6-2 In ECC Action
Bridgeport, Conn.-Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) slammed a match-high 16 kills and recorded a match-leading 18 digs to help the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team cruise to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) East Coast Conference home win over the Molloy College Lions on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 13-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Molloy falls to 7-15 overall and 4-6 in the ECC.
Savic hit an outstanding .469 on the day as she only had one error on 32 attempts with her 16 kills.
Freshman Larissa Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) played a strong game on defense at the net notching six total blocks (two solos and four assists), and she also had four kills in the contest.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had a fine all-around match with 23 assists, five kills on six attacks and five digs.
Junior Taylor McBeth (Langley, B.C., Canada) reached double digits in digs with 10.
The UB volleyball team is back in action at home on Tuesday night when they begin a busy week of play, four matches in six days, when the Purple Knights host Mercy College. Action gets underway in Hubbell Gym at 7:00 p.m.
