Volleyball Drops First ECC Match Of 2010 at Dowling
Purple Knights And Golden Lions Now Tied Atop Conference Standings
Oakdale, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team suffered its first conference loss of the 2010 season as the Purple Knights were swept on the road by the Dowling College Golden Lions, 21-25, 16-25, 21-25. The loss drops the Purple Knights overall mark to 21-3. Dowling is now 24-1 overall. The two teams are now tied atop the East Coast Conference standings with identical 10-1 ECC marks.
Senior Terry Masava (Nairobi, Kenya) led UB in kills with 13, and graduate student Agatha Baliddawa-Mukisa (Jinja, Uganda) registered 12 kills for Bridgeport.
Junior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 36 assists on the night, and graduate student Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada) tied for the team lead in digs with 11 at Dowling.
The Purple Knights are next in action on Friday night at home when they close out the regular season with a 6:00 p.m. Senior Night match against C.W. Post.
