Purple Knights Roll To Ninth Straight Win With Straight Sets Victory Over Molloy
Volleyball Now 12-1 Overall and 3-0 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team cruised to its ninth straight victory with a straight sets, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20, East Coast Conference home win over the Molloy College Lions in a steamy Hubbell Gym on Thursday night. The victory raises the Purple Knights overall record to 12-1, and the stay perfect in ECC play so far this season at 3-0. Molloy falls to 3-13 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Graduate student Agatha Baliddawa (Jinja, Uganda) led the Purple Knights with 14 kills against Molloy. Agatha was joined in double figure kills by senior Terry Masava (Nairobi, Kenya) who had 11 kills. As a team, Bridgeport hit a blistering .451 on the night with 43 kills on 82 attacks with only six errors.
Junior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had a fine evening, as she had 36 assists, three service aces, two kills and two total blocks.
The UB volleyball team is next in action on Saturday afternoon at Stonehill College for a non-conference clash that gets underway at 1:30 p.m. The Purple Knights' next home match is set for next Tuesday when they return to East Coast Conference play with a 7:00 p.m. match with Mercy College.
