UB Volleyball Opens ECC Play With Four-Set Win At Queens
Agatha Baliddawa Dominates Match As Purple Knights Up Winning Streak To Seven.
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team opened East Coast Conference play on Thursday night with a four-set, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21, win over the host Queens College Knights. UB is now 10-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The victory is also the Purple Knights seventh win in a row. Queens falls to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in ECC action.
Graduate student Agatha Baliddawa (Jinja, Uganda) dominated play for Bridgeport on Thursday, as she notched a match-high 20 kills and also had six blocks (three solos). Agatha hit an impressive .552 on the night, as she slammed her 20 kills with only four errors on 29 total attacks.
Junior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the team in digs with 17 at Queens, and classmate setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) had 43 assists for the winners.
The Bridgeport volleyball team returns to East Coast Conference competition at NYIT on Tuesday night, when the Purple Knights will look to extended their winning streak to eight matches.
