Bridgeport Swim Teams Continue To Shine In the Classroom

Norfolk, Va. –For the first time in the 95-year history of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) more than 700 teams, including both the University of Bridgeport men's and women's squads, have received Scholar All-America recognition.  In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 Semester.

The UB men and women continue to excel both in the pool and the classroom, as the Purple Knights posted a 3.60 men's team grade point average, and the women had a 3.53 team GPA.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) have also selected a record 997 swimmers and divers for its individual Scholar All-America team.   The selections recognize students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.  

Three Bridgeport women earned spots on the 2017 CSCAA Scholar All-America Team in Annagrazia Bonsanti, Tatiana Shepel (Honorable mention and Nina Stegu.

Two UB men appear on the 2017 CSCAA Scholar All-America Team in Erik Hren and Ivan Sangines.
