Bio

Scott McBride enters season number eleven as the Associate Head Coach of the University of Bridgeport’s Women’s Soccer Program in 2018. This is McBride’s 14th season with the Purple Knights. He worked for three seasons as an assistant to Head Coach Nilerud before being promoted to associate head coach in 2007.  Scott was selected as the NSCAA's East Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011.  McBride’s responsibilities include on-field coaching, recruiting, and scouting. In the past seven seasons, the University of Bridgeport Women’s Team has averaged nearly 17 wins a season. They have ended seven of the 13 seasons ranked nationally in scoring offense and five times they have finished with a winning percentage among the best winning in the Division II.

McBride completed a Higher National Diploma in sports coaching in his native Scotland before moving to the United States in 1998 and he also holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced Diploma. McBride currently serves as the Regional Director for UK Elite in Connecticut.

As a youth coach, McBride has led some of southern Connecticut’s most successful programs. In 2002, He led Westhill High School to its first ever state tournament and was named Coach of The Year by his fellow coaches. In the subsequent two seasons he led the Westhill High School team to the school’s first and second ever appearances in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Tournament. In addition to his work with UK Elite soccer McBride currently coaches nationally ranked teams for the Connecticut Football Club.

In summer 2005, McBride led his NOGA Pride U14 girls team to the Gothia Cup Title. This tournament, referred to as the “Youth World Cup”, features youth teams from the world over.

In addition to his extensive work with Connecticut youth soccer, McBride has worked with some of the most prestigious clubs in international soccer including AC Milan, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC and Glasgow Celtic FC as a member of staff for the Champions World Tour.

McBride currently resides in Cheshire, Connecticut together with his wife Lee and their sons Kian and Dylan.
