Bio

Barry Beattie enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach of the University of Bridgeport Women’s Soccer Program in 2018. He is currently the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Staples High School, Westport CT.  Beattie has been the Staples HS Coach from 2011-2017 with this past year being the pinnacle of his years there. Beattie guided the Staples Wreckers to the FCIAC Runners Up having won their conference, a feat in which Beattie was rewarded the FCIAC Coach of the Year.   Barry’s responsibilities within the Lady Purple Knights include coordinating the sports science Heart Rate Monitors, on-field coaching, training session planning, recruiting, and scouting. 

Beattie a native of Derry, Ireland and holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced national Diploma and a USSF “D” License and a UEFA B License. Over the past eight years, Beattie has quickly risen up the ranks of youth coaches in the Fairfield County area. His love and passion for teaching the game of soccer has led him to coach in every level of the youth game. Before coming to the States, Beattie coached in both England and Ireland at various levels of the game. 

He resides in Bridgeport.
