Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer got off to a quick start on the road on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania when junior Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg) scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from classmate Angelina LoFranco (Greenacres, Fla.) in the 11th minute, but the host Griffins came back to score the next two goals of the match to grab a 2-1 win over the visitors. UB is now 4-3-2 overall and an even 2-2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. Chestnut Hill is now 3-2-1 overall and undefeated 2-0-0 in the CACC.
After Thill's goal, the hosts scored in the 37th minute to knot the contest at 1-1 heading into halftime, and the Griffins potted their game-winner in the 71st minute of action.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Antia Lopez (Fr., Galicia, Spain) made four saves, as she suffered her first loss of the year.
CHC outshot UB, 12-11, in the match, and the Purple Knights finished with a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team heads to New Jeresy on Tuesday afternoon to face Felician University in a CACC clash. Game time is set for 12 noon.
