Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team clinched the 2019 East Coast Conference regular season title and the top seed in this year's ECC Championship Tournament with a 1-0 road win over the Molloy College Lions on Saturday afternoon on Long Island. With the victory, UB moves to 6-0-1 in conference play and 8-6-2 overall. Molloy is now 11-4-1 overall and 4-3-0 in the ECC.
Since 2009, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer program has won nine regular season conference crowns.
Saturday's only goal came just 19:54 into play when Bridgeport junior Andrea Basilicato (Guilford, Conn.) scored her first tally of 2019 off an assist from freshman Helen Klos (Erkelenz, Germany).
The Purple Knights outshot the Lions, 15-6, in the match.
Bridgeport freshman goalkeeper Helena Dahlstrom (Stockholm, Sweden) made one save to notch her fourth clean sheet of the season.
