Offense Shows Signs Of Life But Women's Soccer Drops High-Scoring Decision At Southern New Hampshire

Manchester, N.H.-Newcomer Roosa Ariyo (Sr., Espoo, Finland) finished with five points on the day scoring two goals with one assist, and the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team showed life on life; but it was not enough for the Purple Knights, as the host Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University netted four second half goals to snap a 1-1 halftime tie and post a 5-3 non-conference win over the Purple Knights in the final match of 2019 Penmen Classic.  UB is now 0-2-0 on the young season; while SNHU remains unbeaten at 2-0-0.

As they did in their season-opening loss to Southern Connecticut State on Friday, the Purple Knights outshot the opposition on Sunday by a wide margin, as UB managed 26 shots to only 14 by the Penmen.

Ariyo scored two second half goals off assists from classmate Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England), one in the 61st minute and the other 20 minutes later, and she assisted on sophomore Anisha Hill's (Working, England) tally just before halftime that sent the contest into the break tied at one.

SNHU's goalkeeper Hannah Rose played a large part in her team's win making a whopping total of 14 saves.

Up next for the UB women's soccer team, the Purple Knights will continue their season-opening opening, four-match road trip with a journey to the State of Minnesota where they will face Minnesota Duluth on Thursday evening and St. Cloud State on Saturday before heading back to the Park City to play the squad's home opener on Wednesday, September 18 versus Wilmington (Del.) University.
