Three Purple Knights Named To 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Scholar All-America Team
Jennifer Wendelius, Maegen Doyle And Elin Eklund Recognized By National Coaches' Association
Kansas City. Mo.-Three members of the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Champion University of Bridgeport women's soccer team have earned spots on this season's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's Scholar All-America Team that was announced today.
Earning spots on the First Team 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Scholar All-America Team are goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius and forward Maegen Doyle. Both Wendelius and Doyle, who are Marketing majors, have also been recognized earlier this season with places on the National Google Cloud Women's Soccer Academic All-America Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America.
Midfielder Elin Eklund, a Social Sciences major, was named to the Second Team 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Scholar All-America team by United Soccer Coaches.
To be eligible for the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a junior and have a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career and have started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team during the season.
Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Ceremony & Reception on Jan. 12, 2019 at McCormick Place West in Chicago in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
