Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to six and its winning streak to four by racing past Jefferson University, 6-0, in a non-conference home match on Wednesday night. The Purple Knights, who have now scored a total of 26 goals during their winning streak, are now 8-3-1 overall so far in 2018. The visiting Rams slip to 4-6-1 overall.
Junior Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England) notched her second straight hat trick finding the back of the net in the 35th, 48th and 49th minutes of action to give her a team-leading 13 goals so far this season.
Sophomore Rebekka Skaasheim (Balestrand. Norway), freshman Anisha Hill (Working, England) and sophomore Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored the Purple Knights' other goals on Wednesday.
Senior Karoline Vieira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) had two assists on the night, and junior Nara DaCosta (Pancas, Brazil) plus freshman Karin Oberg (Thorildsplans, Sweden) also had helpers for the winners.
Goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) picked up her third consecutive shutout and fifth clean sheet of 2018.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team returns to East Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon at NYIT in a big matchup. Action is slated to begin on Long Island at 12 noon.
