Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team got a first half goal from freshman Rebekka Skaasheim (Balestrand, Norway) and a second half markers from classmates Amanda Ebbesson (Solna, Sweden) and Eleonore Freby (Sollentuna, Sweden), as the Purple Knights upped their overall season record 6-5-2 on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 non-conference road victory over the Jefferson University Rams in the City of Brotherly Love. Skaasheim's goal is her second of 2017; Ebbesson, whose tally was assisted by Andrea Basilicato (Fr., Guilford, Conn), has now found the back of the net three times so far this year, and Freby now has two goals on the campaign, as she was assisted by sophomores Marta Sadornil (Madrid, Spain) and Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England).
With the loss, the host Rams are now 7-5-0 overall on the season.
UB dominated play on offense all afternoon, as the visitors outshot the hosts, 21-5, and had an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, junior Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) and sophomore Anneliese Jennings (Warminster, Pa.) each played a half for the Purple Knights to share the clean sheet. Jennings made one stop during the final 45 minutes to preserve the shutout, and the Rams also hit the crossbar during the final period.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team returns to East Coast Conference action with a trip to Western New York and a date the Daemen College Wildcats just outside of Buffalo on Saturday morning. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
