Bellingham, Wash.-The number seven-ranked and host Western Washington University Vikings scored three goals in the first 27 minutes of action on their way to a 5-0 victory over the visiting and number 10-ranked University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in a non-conference women's soccer match featured as the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Game of the Week on ESPN 3. With the win, WWU is now 6-0-1 overall. Bridgeport is now 3-3-0 overall.
The host Vikings dominated the evening on offense outshooting Bridgeport, 18-8, plus WWU had an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Senior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and Nicola Worthington (Chorley, England) each had two shots on the night for the Purple Knights, as did junior Hailey Marquis (Middlebury, Conn.).
