UB's Nicola Worthington And Julia Weidenmark Named 2015 NSCAA Scholar All-Americans
Duo Also Received All-America Honors By The Same Organization for Their Abilities On the Field
Kansas City, Mo.-The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recognized select collegiate student-athletes on Thursday as 2015 NSCAA Scholar All-Americans for their dual accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
Two members of the record-setting 2015 University of Bridgeport women's soccer team earned spots on this year's NCAA Division I and II team, as junior midfielder Nicola Worthington (Chorley, England) was named First Team 2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II Scholar All-America, and defender and classmate Julia Weidenmark (Varnamo, Sweden) received Second team Scholar All-America accolades. Both student-athletes were also named All-Americans for their playing abilities by the same organizatin earlier this month.
Worthington is a Health Science and Exercise Fitness major with a 3.51 grade point averages, and Weidenmark is an Accounting major with a 3.59 G.P.A.
