Women's Soccer Associate Head Coach Scott McBride Selected NSCAA East Region Assistant Coach Of The Year
Helped UB Women's Soccer Post A 16-0-2 Overall Record In 2011
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport women's soccer associate head coach Scott McBride has been named the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) East Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Assistant coaches from all levels of collegiate soccer (NCAA Division I, II, III plus NAIA institutions) are eligible to be selected for this award based on nominations from their program's head coach.
In 2011, McBride completed his seventh season on head coach Magnus Nilerud's staff and fourth as the Purple Knights' associate head coach. This past season, Bridgeport posted a 16-0-2 overall record, and the program made its fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. UB was also ranked number one in the nation for six weeks during the regular season.
"This is a well-deserved recognition for Scott," said head coach Nilerud. "His hard work in all facets of our program has helped take UB women's soccer to another level of excellence."
Earlier this year, Bridgeport head coach Magnus Nilerud was named the NSCAA's Division II Women's Soccer East Regional Coach of the Year and also the East Coast Conference Coach of the Year.
