UB Women's Soccer Stays At National Number One For Sixth Straight Week
Purple Knights Open ECC Tournament Versus Molloy On Thursday Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-For the sixth consecutive week, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team is ranked number one in the country in the national NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The Purple Knights, who are currently 16-0-0 on the season, hold on to the number one spot in the East Regional rankings for the eighth consecutive week.
The Purple Knights, who are the only undefeated and untied team remaining in NCAA Division II women's soccer, wrapped up the regular season last week with win over Pace (4-0) and Queens (3-1).
This week, head coach Magnus Nilerud's team will open the 2011 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament on Thursday night with a semifinal tilt at home versus Molloy at 6:00 p.m.
In men's soccer, head coach Brian Quinn's team is ranked number seven in the East Region by the NSCAA. The UB men travel to NYIT on Wednesday afternoon for their ECC Championship semifinal matchup.
