Balanced Offensive Attack Lifts UB Women's Lacrosse To 21-9 Home Win Over Caldwell
Purple Knights Now 3-0 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team used a balance offensive attack, as seven different players had at least two goals on the day, as the Purple Knights moved to 3-0 on the season with a 21-9, non-conference, home victory over the visiting Caldwell University Cougars on a chilly Friday afternoon in the Park City. Caldwell slips to 0-2 on the season.
Senior Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) and junior Julia Ruscio (St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada) led the Purple Knights' goal-scoring parade with four goals apiece. Orsini also added a pair of assists on the afternoon.
UB sophomore Hannah McDermott (Guilford, Conn.) and junior Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.), each had a hat trick on Friday, and three Purple Knights, senior Courtney Hylok (Muskegon, Mich.) plus sophomores Jessica Kinser (Voorhees, N.J.) and Addison Plume (Glen Arm, Md.), each netted two goals. Kinser chipped in a team-high four assists to finish with a six-point day for Bridgeport along with Orsini, and Plume had two helpers for a four-point day.
Junior Jen Pasternak (Hamburg, N.Y.) fired home Bridgeport's other goal on the day.
Senior goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made nine stops on the day for the Purple Knights to earn the win between the pipes, and sophomore Abbie Jones (Rising Sun. Md.) finished up in net for UB with a perfect 8:23 of action making two saves.
Arden Kassaleh led Caldwell with five goals in the contest.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will look to remain unbeaten when the Purple Knights host Southern New Hampshire next Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
