Bridgeport, Conn.-It was a tough Tuesday night for the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team, as the visiting Mercy College Mavericks raced out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back on their way to a 19-5 East Coast Conference victory. UB is now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the ECC. Mercy ups its season mark to 11-4, and its conference record to 5-1.
Junior Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) each had two goals for the Purple Knights, plus sophomore Julia Ruscio (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) added a goal and an assist on Tuesday.
The UB women's lacrosse team will look to get back in the win column on Saturday afternoon when they host Queens (N.Y.) College in an ECC tilt. Saturday is also Senior Day with opening draw set for 1:00 p.m.
