UB Women's Lacrosse Breezes To Fourth Win In A Row At Post Topping The Hosts, 21-7
Purple Knights Now 5-2 So Far In 2019
Waterbury, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team won its fourth game in a row as they defeated the host Post University Eagles, 21-7, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. Bridgeport is now 5-3 overall. Post falls to 1-6 on the season. Thursday's 21 goals mark the second time this season the team has tied the single-game school record for goals.
The Purple Knights had another team effort on offense with seven different players contributing points. Leading the team was freshman Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) with six goals. Following close behind was sophomore Julia Ruscio (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canda) with five goals. Ruscio also had four draw controls for the winners. Classmate Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) added four goals, and rounding out double-digit goal scorers for UB were senior Amanda Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, N.Y.) and freshman Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) with two goals apiece. Fitzpatrick also grabbed six draw controls and had a caused turnover on the day.
Junior Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) added a goal and two caused turnovers for Bridgeport on the day.
Senior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, PA.) had another record-breaking day breaking her own single-game record for assists. Forry had one goal and dished out a record eight helpers for a total of nine points.
Junior Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) played the entire contest in goal recording ten saves and her fourth win of 2019.
The UB women's lacrosse team will be back in action at home against the visiting Nyack College Warriors on Monday afternoon in the annual Lax-4-Life game to help spread awareness on adolescent and young adult suicide prevention. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
