Lake Buena Vista, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team opened its Spring Break sojourn to Florida on Tuesday evening with a 20-11 loss to Southern New Hampshire University in a game played at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. UB is now 1-2 overall, and SNHU moves to 2-3 on the young season.
Sophomore Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights' offense on Tuesday with three goals and one assist. and senior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) chipped in one goal and four assists. A trio of UB players, junior Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.), sophomore Julia Ruscio (St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada) and freshman Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.), each had two goals against the Penmen.
Junior goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made 12 saves on the night.
The UB women's lacrosse team will play one more game in Florida when they face the University of New Haven at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
