Worcester, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team played its first road game of the 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon, and the Purple Knights fell to the host Assumption College Greyhounds, 19-3. UB is now 1-1 on the young season; while Tuesday's contest was the Greyhounds' season opener.
Sophomore Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals for Bridgeport, and freshman Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) netted the Purple other goal plus added three caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Junior goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made 16 saves for Bridgeport on Tuesday.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will close out a two-game road trip against Dominican (N.Y.) College on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
