Offense In High Gear As UB Women's Lacrosse Tops Post, 20-7
Six Different Players Score At Least Two Goals For The Purple Knights
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team used an offensive explosion on Saturday to score a season-high 20 goals, as UB notched a 20-7 non-conference victory over the visiting Post University eagles on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Knights Field. Bridgeport is now 3-5 on the season, and Post slips to 1-9.
UB dominated the contest racing oy to an 11-3 halftime lead and outshooting the visiting by a 40-24 margin on the day.
Freshman Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights' offense with five goals on the day.
Junior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) had a six-point day for the winners with three goals and three assists, and teammates Barbara Orsini (So., N. Babylon, N.Y.) and junior Ava Gambardella (West haven, Conn.) also had hat tricks for UB. Orisini also chipped in a pair of assists to give her five points in the contest.
Senior Ariana Weingrad (Hicksville, N.Y.) and junior Amanda Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, N.Y.), each had two goals for Bridgeport.
Sophomore goalie Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made 10 saves on the afternoon to pick up her third win of the year.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team is back in East Coast Conference action, as the Purple Knights travel to LIU Post on Wednesday afternoon.
