Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team opened its 2018 season at home on Wednesday afternoon at Knights Field against the nationally-ranked University of New Haven Chargers. UB got off to a fast as sophomore Barbara Orsini (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game just 1:55 into play, but from there on out it was all Chargers, as UNH would go on to post a 20-4 victory.
Freshman Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) would net two goals for the Purple Knights, and junior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) had Bridgeport's other tally.
New Haven dominated the shot count on Wednesday, as UNH finished with a 36-14 advantage.
UB goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made 10 saves on the day.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's lacrosse team will host American International College on Thursday March 8. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at Knights Field.
