Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team saw its modest two-game winning streak snapped in the Purple Knights' 2017 home finale on a rainy Tuesday night in the Park City, as UB fell to the number 16 ranked Mercy College Mavericks, 16-3, in an East Coast Conference contest. Bridgeport is now 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the ECC. Mercy ups its overall record to 14-2, and the Mavericks are 5-2 in conference play.
On Tuesday night, the Purple Knights got single goals from Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.), junior Abigail Benesh (Horseheads, N.Y.) and freshman Courtney Hylok (Muskegon, Mich.), plus an assist from senior Shannon Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.).
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will close out the 2017 season in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon when they face Roberts Wesleyan College.
