Lafayette Hill, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team trailed host Chestnut Hill College, 4-2, late in the first half, but the visiting Purple Knights would score the next seven goals in the contest, to take a 9-4 lead which they never relinquished on their way to an 11-6 victory on a chilly Monday afternoon. With the win, UB is now 4-1 on the season. Chestnut Hill slips to 0-5 overall.
Senior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and freshman Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) each had three goals for Bridgeport on Monday, and junior Abigail Benesh (Horesheads, N.Y.) added two goals for UB.
Senior Rebecca Rieg (Long Valley, N.J.), sophomore Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) and freshman Joanna Muniz (Queens, N.Y.), each found the back of the net once to complete the list of Bridgeport goal scorers.
Freshman goalie Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) picked up her fourth win of the year, as she made nine saves on the day.
