Eight-Goal Second Half Lifts UB Women's Lacrosse To 12-9 Road Win Over Dominican (N.Y.) College
Purple Knights Now 3-1 On The Young Season
Hillburn, N.Y.-Trailing 6-4 at halftime, the visiting University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team rallied to outscore the host Dominican (N.Y.) College Chargers, 8-3, in the second half to post a 12-9 non-conference win on Tuesday afternoon. The victory ups the Purple Knights; 2017 season mark to 3-1, and Dominican is now 0-2 on the young season.
UB sophomore Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) led her team's offense on Tuesday with six points on three goals and three assists.
Abigail Benesh (Horesheads, N.Y.) and freshman Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) also netted three goals for the winners, and senior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) also had a multi-goal day scoring two for Bridgeport.
Senior Shannon Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) continued her excellent play for the Purple Knights in the early season dishing out two assists and adding one goal.
Freshman goalie Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) picked up her third win of the year, as she made nine saves on the day.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team closes out a two-game road swing with a game on Monday afternoon at Chestnut Hill College. Action is slated to begin in Pennsylvania on March 13 at 3:00 p.m.
