Bridgeport Women's Lacrosse Nets A Season-High 19 Goals In Home Win Over Dominican (N.Y.) College
Purple Knights Now 4-4 On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team evened its 2016 season record at 4-4 and picked up its third straight win, as the Purple Knights netted a season-high in goals in a 19-2 non-confernce home victory over the visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College Lady Chargers on Thursday night at Knights Field. With the loss, Dominican remains winless on the year at 0-7.
Freshman Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) led Bridgeport with seven goals on the night to raise her season total to a team-best 22.
UB junior Kerry Mackinnon (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had a four-point night for the winners three goals and one assist, as did classmate Rebecca Rieg (Long Valley, N.J.) and sophomore Arianna Weingrad (Hicksville, N.Y.), each with two goals and two assists.
Rounding out the Bridgeport goal scorers were junior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) with two goals, freshman Alexis Malvaso (Jordan, N.Y.) also with two, and junior Julia Gasston (Auckland, New Zealand) with one.
Sophomore Abigail Benesh (Horseheads, N.Y.) recorded a team-leading four assists on Thursday night.
Bridgeport senior goalkeeper Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) had a strong game in net for the Purple Knights making 10 saves.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team returns to East Coast Conference action when they travel to LIU Post On Wednesday, April 6. Game time on Long Island is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
