Women's Lacrosse Nipped By St. Thomas Aquinas, 8-7, In Three Overtimes
UB Will Look To Get In The Win Column Next Saturday Versus Roberts Wesleyan
Bridgeport, Conn.-St Thomas Aquinas' Samantha Lowney scored her fifth goal of the afternoon in the third overtime session to lift the visiting Spartans to an 8-7 East Coast Conference women's lacrosse win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon. With the win, STAC is now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. UB remains winless at 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the ECC.
Sophomore Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.) lead UB with three goals on the afternoon. Junior Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added two goals for the Purple Knights, and freshman Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and junior Shealyn Scully (Huntington, N.Y.) each had one goal.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) made 16 saves for Bridgeport.
The UB women's lacrosse team will look for its first win of the 2014 season next Saturday at home (March 15) when they host Roberts Wesleyan College in an East Coast Conference tilt.
