Gymnastics Defeats LIU in Home Dual Meet

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a meet that came down to the very last performance of the night, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team narrowly came out on top in a dual meet over Long Island University on Friday. The Purple Knights' score of 193.150, which is their second highest of the season, topped the Sharks' final mark of 192.175.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
It was a season best score (39.075) in the all-around from Abby Kenney that piloted UB against the Sharks. The junior placed first in a trio of events en route to her fourth all-around title of the season.
Kenney's top mark came on floor courtesy of a 9.800. Impressively, she has now reached or eclipsed that score in three meets this year.
Kenney also earned top billing on vault (9.775 – season high) and bars (9.725) while placing second on beam (9.775).
Hannah Barry was also sensational on beam as she finished tied for third with a season-high mark of 9.750.
Beam served as UB's top team event with a season-best score of 48.625. Emily Hernandez (9.725 – season high), Olivia Imbarlina (9.700) and Madelyn Viles (9.675 – season high) all joined Kenney and Barry with superb results.
UB's floor squad offered some terrific efforts as well. Maggie Coyle, who won the event at last weekend's quad meet, and Madelyn Viles each tied for second with totals of 9.775.
Skyler Vulchev also registered high praise in her first appearance in the floor lineup. The Illinois native tallied a fourth-place score of 9.700.
More noteworthy tallies on Friday came from Hernandez on vault (9.700) and Samantha Nokes (9.575) and Rae Solis (9.550) on bars.
Bridgeport, which has now won three meets this season, holds an average score of 192.183 across their six outings.
