Purple Knights Wrap Up A Busy Week Of Gymnastics Action At Brown University
UB Competes For The Third Time In Six Days Against The Bears
Providence, R.I.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team wrapped up a busy week of action with the team's third meet in six days with a trip north on I-95 to Providence, Rhode Island for a Sunday dual meet at Brown University. The host Bears topped the visiting Purple Knights by a score of 194.600-184.725.
As a team, UB scored 46.800 on the balance beam, 46.400 on the vault, 45.650 on the bars and 45.875 in the floor exercise.
Senior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) shined for the Purple Knights on the bars on Sunday posting a 9.900 to take second place in the event.
Freshman Olivia Imbarlina (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a strong competition on Sunday tying for second on the balance beam with a score of 9.675 and posting a career-best 9.700 in the vault to finish fourth in that event.
Classmate Kiana Session (Chandler, Az.) took third in the floor exercise at Brown, as she tied her career-best score of a 9.800.
UB had the only three all-around competitors on Sunday, and Session topped that trio with a total of 37.275 in the four events. Graduate student Alexis Richardson (Coram, N.Y.) was next with a total of 36.400, and freshman Catherine Aucoin (Austin, Tex.) completed the all-around finishers with a score of 35.175.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will return to Providence, R.I. on Friday evening for another dual meet with Brown that is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
