Women's Gymnastics Takes Third Place At Yale's Don Tonry Invitational
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 187.450 On Super Bowl Sunday
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics took third place in the four-team Don Tonry Invitational hosted by Yale University of Super Bowl Sunday. The Purple Knights posted a team score of 187.450 to finish behind Yale (193.525), Southern Connecticut State (189.400) and ahead of Springfield College (183.750).
As a team, UB scored 47.800 in the floor exercise, 47.575 on the balance beam, 46.525 on the vault and 45.550 on the bars.
Senior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) had a strong meet for Bridgeport turning in the team's top finish on the bars with a score of 9.800 to tie for fifth and tying for third place on the balance beam with teammate freshman Kiana Session (Chandler, Az.), as the each scored a 9.750.
Session, who took second place in Sunday's all-around with a four-event total of 38.400, tied for sixth place on the vault with teammate junior Joanna Chambers (Georgetown, Tex.), as the both turned in scores of 9.600.
In the floor exercise, senior Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.) led UB, as she she finished in the eighth spot with a score 9.675.
Bridgeport freshmen Catherine Aucoin (Austin, Tex.) also competed in all four events on Sunday finishing fourth in the all-around with a score of 35.200.
Up next, the University of Bridgeport gymnastics team will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania next Sunday, February 20 for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet with the University of Pennsylvania.
