Strong Final Rotation Vault Showing Lifts UB Gymnastics To Tri-Meet Win At Brown On Sunday Night
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 48.800 On The Vault To Win The Meet With A Score of 192.350
Providence, R.I.-Entering the final event of the evening with a team score of 143.450 trailing then first place Southern Connecticut State University (143.650), the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a season-best vault score of 48.800 in the final rotation of a tri-meet hosted by Brown University on Sunday night to capture the competition with a final score of 192.350 to best second Brown (191.425) and third place SCSU (190.025).
On the vault, the Purple Knights took the top five spots on the night led by winner Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) with a 9.825. Sophomore Jordan Streete (Agawam, Mass.) junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) and senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) tied for second place with scores of 9.775, plus sophomore Caitlin Gray (Newington, Conn.) tied for fifth on the vault with a 9.650.
In the other events as a team on Sunday, UB scored a 46.450 on the bars, a 48.725 on the balance beam and a 48.375 in the floor exercise.
On the bars, junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) took first place with a score of 9.850.
On the balance beam, Maya Reimers claimed the top spot with a score of 9.875, and she also took first in the floor exercise at 9.875.
UB freshman Amanda Loo (Sound Beach, N.Y.) took third place on the floor with a score of 9.825, and Julianna Roland was fourth turning in a 9.800.
In the all-around on Sunday, Roland totaled a 38.475 in the four events, and Gabrielle Kistner compiled a 37.425.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete next Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in a tri-meet hosted by the University of Pennsylvania that will also feature West Chester and William and Mary.
