Women's Gymnastics Enjoys Senior Night Victory Over Rhode Island College, 193.950-180.250
Team Honors Three Seniors: Taylor Jangda, Sarah Proulx and Maya Reimers
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team wrapped up its 2020 home schedule on Saturday with a strong Senior Night showing, as the Purple Knights topped Rhodes Island College in a dual meet by a score of 193.950 to 180.250.
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.575 on the vault, 48.725 on the bars, 47.675 on the beam and 48.975 in the floor exercise.
UB took the top three places in every event on Saturday night.
On the vault, sophomore Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.), who took first in the all-around with a total of 39.100, grabbed the top spot with a score 9.750, and she was followed by junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) and sophomore Jordan Streete (Agawam, Mass.), wo tied for second place at 9.725.
On the bars, Hayley Bangart (Castle Rock, Colo.) took first with a score of 9.800; while Roland finished second at 9.775, and junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) and junior Regan Dillon (Delano, Minn.) tied for third at 9.725.
Senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) won Saturday's balance beam competition with a score of 9.875, and she was followed by Julianna Roland in second at 9.775, and Nicole Javinett (Jr., Marlboro, N.Y.) in third at 9.675.
Reimers wowed the fans in the Wheeler Recreation in the night's final event by winning the floor exercise with a career-high score of 9.950. Roland grabbed second with a 9.800, and Gabrielle Kistner was third with a score of 9.775.
Following the meet, the team honored its three seniors in Taylor Jangda (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Sarah Proulx (Newington, Conn.) and Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.).
The UB women's gymnastics team is right back in action on Sunday evening as the Purple Knights travel to Providence, Rhode Island for a tri-meet hosted by Brown University that begins at 6:00 p.m.
