Bridgeport Gymnastics Open 2020 Home Schedule In Fine Style With Quad Meet Win Over Brown, Yale And RIC
Team Totals 193.625 Winning All Four Events And Sophomore Julianna Roland Takes Sunday's All-Around Title
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took first place in all four events on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple Knights opened their 2020 home schedule with an impressive quad meet win over Brown, Yale and Rhode Island College in the Wheeler Recreation Center. UB took first place with a score of 193.625, followed by Brown at 190.800. Yale finished in third place on Sunday with a score 190.375, and Rhode Island College took fourth with a team total of 175.825.
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.200 on the vault, 48.625 on the bars, 48.275 on the beam and 48.525 on the floor.
Sophomore Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) took first place in Sunday's all-around competition for the Purple Knights compiling a score of 39.125 in the four events. Roland tied for first place on the beam (9.825), took second in the floor exercise (9.775), tied for third on the vault (9.700) and was tied for fourth on the bars (9.825).
UB went one-two-three in the floor exercise on Sunday, as senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) captured first place (9.825), followed by Roland in second and junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C) grabbed third place (9.750).
On the bars, junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was the top Bridgeport performer finishing in a tie for second place with a score of 9.850.
Roland's third place finish was the team's top finish on the vault followed by sophomore Caitlin Gray (Newington, Conn.) in fifth place with a score of 9.675.
The UB women's gymnastics team returns to action next Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., when the Purple Knights head to Providence, Rhode Island to face Brown and Rhode Island College.
