UB Gymnastics Posts Second Straight Season-Best Team Score As Purple Knights Take Third In 2019 USAG Team Final
Purple Knights Score 195.925 On Saturday
Bridgeport, Conn.-For the second straight evening the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a season-best score, but it was not quite enough, as the host Purple Knights finished third out of four teams in Saturday's USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Team Final held at UB's Wheeler Recreation Center. On Saturday, the Purple Knights scored 195.925 finishing behind 2019 National Champion, Lindenwood University (196.375) and second place University of Illinois Chicago (196.025). Air Force took fourth place on Saturday night with a team score of 194.575.
As a team, UB scored a 49.125 on the floor, a 49.000 on the bars, a 48.950 on the vault and a 48.850 on the balance beam in Saturday's final.
Freshman Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) posted her team's top score on Saturday on the vault at 9.900. Sophomore Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was the Purple Knights' leader on the bars (9.825). Junior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y), who received a perfect 10 from one judge, topped UB on the beam with a 9.900, plus Reimers was the team's top scorer in the floor exercise with another 9.900.
Action will wrap up at the 2019 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship meet on Sunday with the individual event finals at 1:00 p.m. Competing for Bridgeport will be Juliana Roland in the vault, Kathryn Doran on the bars, Roland and Maya Reimers on the beam, plus Reimers and freshman Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.) will take part in the floor exercise.
