Bridgeport Women's Gymnastics Takes Second At Towson Tri-Meet
Purple Knights Post A Team Score Of 193,900 On Friday Night
Towson, Md.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team finished second in a three-team meet hosted by Towson University on Friday evening, as the host Tigers took first with a team score of 193.900. UB took second with a team total of 192.900 and Southern Connecticut State was third at 190.050
As a team, UB scored 48.775 on the vault, 48.725 on the bars, 48.200 in the floor exercise and 47.200 on the balance beam.
Bridgeport freshman Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) won Friday's all-around title posting a score of 38.800 in the four events, as she tied for first on the vault at 9.850 and was part of a three-way tie for third on the bars with graduate student Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) scoring 9.775.
Freshman Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.) finished third on the vault for the Purple Knights with a score of 9.825.
Junior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) starred on the balance beam for Bridgeport winning the event with a score of 9.875.
UB's top finishers on the floor on Friday were senior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) in second place scoring 9.800, and Gwinn took third place with a score of 9.750.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will begin a busy weekend of action with a quad meet a Rutgers University in seven days. That meet will feature the host Scarlet Knights, UB, Towson and Centenary. Following the trip to Rutgers, Bridgeport will host Cornell in a dual meet at Wheeler Recreation Center the following evening at 5:00 p.m.
