Busy UB Women's Gymanstics Team Takes Third Place At New Hampshire Quad Meet
Purple Knights Turn In A Team Score Of 193.575, As Sophomore Kathryn Doran Takes First Place On The Bars
Durham, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team continued its busy early season schedule on Friday night competing in its third meet in just 12 days, as the Purple Knights travel to a quad meet hosted by the University of New Hampshire. UB took third place on Friday posting a team score of 193.575 to finish behind the host Wildcats who took first place with a total of 194.925 and second place Pittsburgh, as the Panthers finished with a score of 193.725. Bridgeport finished in front of Temple, as the Owl had a team total of 191.950.
On Friday, the Purple Knights posted a 48.775 on the beam, a 48.725 on the bars, a 48.300 on the vault and a 47.775 in the floor exercise.
Sophomore Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) took first place on the bars with a score of 9.850, and teammates Kelli Tereshko (Grad. Student, Madison, Indiana) and Maritza Futch (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) tied for third in the same event with scores of 9.750.
In the floor exercise, junior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) took fifth place to lead the Purple Knights with a score of 9.800, and Reimers and senior Delaney Cahill (Medford Lakes. N.J.) were the team's top finishers on the beam with scores of 9.825 which tied then for eleventh place on the night.
On the vault, freshman Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.) and senior Brieanna Zine (Brockton, Mass.) paced UB by tying for seventh place with scores of 9.725.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Providence, Rhode Island and a quad meet at Brown University next Saturday, January 26. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m.
