UB Gymnastics Finishes Third In Opening Session Of 2018 USAG Women's Collegiate National Team Championship Semifinals
Purple Knights Do Not Advance To Saturday's Team Finals
Denton, Texas-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took third place out of four teams in the opening session of two team semifinals at the 2018 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship Meet hosted by Texas Women's University on Friday afternoon with a score of 194.850. UB will not move on to Saturday's team finals as only the top two teams in each session move on, as Air Force and Lindenwood just edged the Purple Knights, as the tied for first with team scores of 194.950. Penn took fourth with score of 193.925.
Bridgeport posted a 49.000 in the floor exercise, a 48.850 on the balance beam, a 48.750 on the bars and a 48.250 on the vault.
Senior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) took second in the first session's all-around competition with a total of 39.050 in the four events. Teammate, sophomore Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) tied for third in the all-around at 39.000, and freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was seventh in the all-around at 38.100.
The UB women's gymnastics team will close out the 2018 season on Sunday afternoon with several athletes competing in the USAG Individual Event Finals at TWU.
