UB Women's Gymnastics Claims Tenth Consecutive ECAC Division II Crown
Team Posts Season-High 195.100 To Win The Event
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team took home its tenth straight ECAC Division II title on Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University, as the Purple Knights posted a season-best team score of 195.100 to top West Chester University and SCSU. Saturday's 2018 ECAC title is number 21 in the program's storied history. West Chester took second place on Saturday with a team score of 192.625 and the host Owls was third with a total of 191.900.
The Purple Knights won all four events on Saturday scoring 48.100 on the vault, 48.750 on the bars, a 48.925 on the balance beam and a season-high 49.325 in the floor exercise.
UB senior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.), who was named ECAC Division II Women's Gymnastics Athlete of the Year following the event, won her second straight ECAC Division II All-Around title posting a total score of 39.075 in the four events. Teammates sophomore Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) took second in the all-around with a score of 38.925 and freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was third with a total of 38.700.
On the vault, freshman Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) tied for first place with a score of 9.725 and Reimers took third place at 9.700.
On the bars, senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) took first with a score of 9.825 and Kelsey Campbell tied for second with a score of 9.775. Tereshko was named ECAC Division II Specialist of the Year following Saturday's action.
Bridgeport went one-two-three on the balance beam as Campbell took third with a 9.800, Kathryn Doran was second with a 9.850 and freshman Lauren Ramirez (Gilbert, Ariz.) won the event with a score of 9.875.
In the floor exercise, Maya Reimers took first with a 9.925, and Kistner grabbed second place with a career-best 9.990.
