Juniors Kelly Aycock And Delaney Cahill Honored With Weekly ECAC Division II Women's Gymnastics Awards
Pair Excelled In UB's Final Home Meet Of 2018 Last Saturday Evening
Danbury, Conn.-A pair of University of Bridgeport women's gymnasts have been recognized by the ECAC with weekly conference Division II awards for their fine performances in last Saturday's home Quad Meet with Yale, Brown and Centenary College. UB junior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) has been chosen the ECAC Division II Specialist of the Week, and classmate Delaney Cahill (Medford Lake, N.J.) earned ECAC Division II Women's Gymnastics Coaches Choice Award.
Aycock had a great meet for the Purple Knights as they tried to close out the regular season strong. The junior specializes in the uneven bars and the floor exercise each week for the team. This weekend she scored a 9.750 on bars and placed second with a 9.850 behind her teammate Maya Reimers who finished with a 9.925.
Cahill, 2016 ECAC Gymnastics Rookie of the Year, returned this season after missing her sophomore campaign. She now specializes on the balance beam and leads the Purple Knights off for the event. With her consistent effort and scores Delaney helps the team start out strong every week. To finish off the regular season was no different as she scored a 9.750 on the balance beam which helped lead the team six for six beam streak going for the first time this year.
This week, the University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team travels to Southern Connecticut State University for this year's ECAC Division II Championship Meet on Saturday.
