UB Women's Gymnastics Takes Second Place In Senior Night Quad Meet
Maya Reimers Wins The Beam And The Floor Exercise For UB
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team closed out its 2018 home schedule with a Senior Night Quad Meet on Saturday evening in the Wheeler Recreation Center, and the Purple Knights took second place with a team total of 194.275 behind Yale University's top team score of 194.650. Brown was third on Saturday night with 192.600 points and Centenary (La.) College took fourth place with a total of 190.000.
As a team on Saturday, UB posted a season-best 49.125 on the balance beam, a 48.900 in the floor exercise, a 48.150 on the bars and a 48.100 on the vault.
Bridgeport sophomore Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) won two events on Saturday taking first place on the beam with a score of 9.875 and in the floor exercise at 9.925. On the beam, teammates senior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) and freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) tied for second place with scores of 9.850, and UB went one-two-three- in the floor exercise, as junior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) was second with a 9.850 and freshman Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) tied third with 9.825.
On the bars, senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) took first place with a score of 9.850, and Aycock tied for second place at 9.750.
On the vault, Kistner was the Purple Knights; top finisher taking second place with a score of 9.750
In Saturday's all-around, Kelsey Campbell was second with a total of 38.950 in the four events and Maya Reimers took third with a total of 38.900.
Following the meet, UB honored its three seniors Caylee Ford (Buffalo, N.Y.), along with Kelli Tereshko and Kelsey Campbell.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Southern Connecticut State University for the 2018 ECAC Division II Championship Meet. The Purple Knights will be looking for their tenth straight ECAC crown.
