Gymnastics Posts Season-High Team Score 194.800 To Win Brown Quad Meet
UB Takes First Overall In Quad Meet With A Season-Best Team Score And Season-High Bars Score
Providence, R.I-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team got back into the win column on Sunday afternoon at Brown University, as the Purple Knights took first place in a quad-meet with a season-best team score of 194.800. The host Bears took second place with a score of 193.150, Southern Connecticut State University came in third with a total of 192.050 and Brockport finished fourth with a final score of 190.975.
As a team on Sunday, UB posted a season-high 48.950 on the bars, a 48.675 on the beam, a 48.875 in the floor exercise and a 48.300 on the vault.
Freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) won two events for the Purple Knights on Sunday, as she took first place with an near-perfect score of 9.900 on the bars and a 9.800 on the beam. She also placed first amongst the all-around contenders with a total score of 38.975 in all four individual events.
UB dominated on the beam, as Doran came in first, sophomore Maya Reimers (New York, New York) took second with a score of 9.775 and freshman Lauren Ramirez (Gilbert, Ariz.) came in third with a score of 9.750. Reimers also took home the first place spot in the floor exercise with a score of 9.875.
On the bars, senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) was a top finisher for Bridgeport tying for second place with a score of 9.825.
Up next, UB women's gymnastics team will head back home to host the University of New Hampshire in Wheeler Recreational Center on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
