Purple Knights Finish In Third Place At Temple's Ken Anderson Women's Gymnastics Invitational
Kathryn Doran And Kelsey Campbell Finish One-Two In Saturday's All-Around
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team finished third in the four-team Kean Anderson Invitational host by Temple University on Saturday with a team score of 191.075. The host Owls won the event with a total of 194.625. West Chester University was second with a score of 192.650 and Ursinus College was fourth with a score of 185.175.
As a team at Temple, UB posted a 47.750 on the bars, a 46.925 on the beam, a 48.300 in the floor exercise and a 48.100 on the vault.
Bridgeport went one-two in Saturday's all-around competition, as freshmen Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) posted the top score in all four events at 38.600, and senior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) was second at 38.050.
Doran was UB's top finisher on the bars, as she tied for second place in the event with teammate senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana), with a score of 9.800, and Kathryn also was the top Purple Knight on the balance beam, as she was part of a five-tie for sixth place along with classmate Lauren Ramirez (Gilbert, Ariz.) at 9.725.
Campbell and teammate sophomore Nina Whittaker (Salem, N.H.) were the top Bridgeport finishers in the vault finishing part of a three-way tie for fourth with a score of 9.675.
In the floor exercise, junior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) was the team's top finisher tying for fourth place with a score of 9.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to the Lone Star State for a quad-meet hosted by Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas next Sunday afternoon.
