Women's Gymnastics Posts Season-High Team Total In Home Dual Meet Win Over Brown
Purple Knights Top the Visiting Bears-193.275-191.250
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team picked up its third straight dual meet win on Sunday afternoon and in the process posted a 2018 season-high team score, as the Purple Knights defeated the visiting Brown University Bears, 193.275-191.250, in a competition held in UB's Wheeler Recreation Center.
Bridgeport won all four events on Sunday posting a 48.200 on the vault, a 48.050 on the bars, a 48.475 on the beam and a 48.550 in the floor exercise.
UB sophomore Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) won Sunday's all-around title with a score of 38.850 in the four events, as she tied for first place in the floor exercise with teammate Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) with a score of 9.825, tied second in the vault with a score of 9.675, placed third on the beam with a score of 9.750 and was seventh on the bars with a 9.600.
Freshman Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) took third in the floor exercise for the Purple Knights with a score of 9.800.
Bridgeport went one-two-three on the bars, as freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) grabbed first place with a score of 9.825, senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) was second with a 9.775 and junior Thomara Powell-Brown Rocky Hill, Conn.) was third with a score of 9.750.
Freshman Lauren Ramirez (Gilbert, Ariz.) took first place on the balance beam for the Purple Knights posting a score of 9.800.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will take a week off before returning to action in two weeks on Super Bowl Sunday in Providence, Rhode Island when they will face Brown again in a tri-meet that will also feature Rhode Island College. Action is scheduled to begin at 12 noon on February 4th.
