UB Posts 192.950-191.750 Women's Gymnastics Dual Meet Win At The University Of New Hampshire
Purple Knights Back In Action At Home Next Sunday Afternoon Versus Brown
Durham, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted an impressive road dual meet victory on Saturday defeating a Division 1 opponent in the University of New Hampshire by a score of 192.950-191.750.
As a team, the Purple Knights won the bars with a score of 48.375 and the floor exercise with a total of 48.450 and posted scores of 48.375 on the vault and 47.325 on the balance beam.
Senior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) won the all-around at UNH with a score of 39.000, as she led UB with a third place finish on the vault (9.775) and posted scores of 9.750 on the bars, 9.750 on the balance beam and 9.725 in the floor exercise.
Freshman Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) tied for first place on the bars against New Hampshire with a score of 9.825. Senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) took third place on the bars with a score of 9.800, and junior Maritza Futch (Atlanta, Ga.) took fourth place just ahead of Campbell with a score of 9.775.
Doran again starred for UB on the beam taking second place with a score of 9.825, and Campbell's score was good enough for was good enough to tie for fourth.
In the floor exercise, junior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) was the top Bridgeport finisher taking fourth place with a score of 9.750, and Campbell and freshman Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) tied for fifth on the floor with their scores of 9.725.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team returns to the Wheeler Recreation Center on Sunday, January 21 for its second of four home meets this season when they host Brown University. Action is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
