Bridgeport Posts Season-Best Women's Gymnastics Team Score Of 195.050 At Arizona State
Purple Knights Take Second Place In Three Team Meet
Tempe, Ariz. - The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a 2017 season-high team score of 195.050 on Friday night, as the Purple Knights took second place in a tri-meet hosted by Arizona State University. Sacramento State won Friday's meet with a team score of 195.275 followed by UB, and the host Sun Devils finished in third place with a total of 194.925.
As team Bridgeport scored 49.000 on the balance beam, 48.825 in the floor exercise, 48.550 on the vault and 48.675 on the bars.
On the balance beam on Friday night, Bridgeport senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) took first place with a score of 9.925, and teammate, junior Carol Chiles (Fairfield, Calif.) was second with a score of 9.875.
On the vault, UB freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) grabbed first place with a score of 9.825, and Reimers and Comports were the top Bridgeport finishers in the floor exercise, as they tied for fourth place with scores of 9.800.
On the bars, senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) finished second in the event with a score of 9.825.
Junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) was the top Purple Knights' finisher in Friday's all-around taking fourth place with a total of 38.800 in the four events. Maya Reimers placed fifth in the all-around just behind Campbell at 38.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will head to West Chester, Pa. for the 2017 ECAC Division II Championship Meet hosted by West Chester University on Saturday, March 18.
